A native of Ottawa, Canada, Ken Workman was raised on the vinyl sounds of roots and began singing at age 11 in a Choir and quickly fell in love with music and wanted to learn more. He picked up his first guitar at age 15 and enrolled in lessons. Even after the removal of part of his lung at 17, Ken never lost his desire to sing. Having only one lung has never slowed him down to this day.

The Shirt Tearing Boys have been performing in the Ottawa Valley and beyond for close to 15 years. Known for their harmonies and humour, the boys and girls treat their audiences to an outstanding range of music from Bob Wills and Cindy Walker to Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway and Dean Martin along with some toe tapping originals from Charlie Sohmer.

With The Wreckers we are a 5 piece band that has been playing festivals and clubs locally and across the continent for 15yrs or more… it’s hard to remember. We can keep you dancing till closing time and when you’re done we’ll wrap you up in Vintage Country Comfort and then set you up with a soundtrack for while you’re countin’ sheep.

Down in a Government Town
Slo’ Tom is a Canadian songwriter best known as one third of seminal punk/alt-rock band FURNACEFACE. He has spent the last decade perfecting his rollicking country outfit Slo’ Tom & the Handsome Devils. Tom’s second album “Musta been a Pretty Good Night” was released in October 2012 and his third album “I’m Sick” was released October 2013. The band’s their third album “Down in a Government Town” was release in October 2016. This new record features live favourites such as “One Way Street”, “Family in the Mansion on Parliament Hill”, “It’s a Condo Now!” and the title track “Down in a Government Town”.
Together, Slo’ Tom and the Handsome Devils are creating music that combines traditional country arrangements with a dash of Canadiana (think Stompin’ Tom and Gordon Lightfoot) and a endearing sense of humour.

Hemlock Hotel appears regularly on Ottawa stages and in smaller communities along the Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston corridor. Known for their versatility, at their shows the band generates country & folk-rock feels but also pop and adult contemporary vibes.
Their debut album was ranked 39 in CKCU’s Top 50 Albums of 2020 with their first single “America”. In 2022, Hemlock Hotel released Tailwind. Recorded with Steve Foley at Audio Valley in Ottawa. Currently the band is working with Steve on their upcoming studio album to be released this fall.
The band’s philosophy is rather simple. Write heartfelt songs that people can dance and singalong.

Siqiniup Qilauta (Sunsdrum) does Inuit cultural performances that include throat singing, drum dancing, games and singing traditional songs.
The name of the group, Siqiniup Qilauta roughly translates to The Sun’s Drum. The name was influenced by an Inuit legend they heard about the sun. When the sun has a complete halo around it, it indicates good luck and the halo represents a drum.
The group is located in Ottawa, Ontario, and has travelled nationally and internationally. They are featured on David Newland’s album, Northbound. Lynda Brown works at Students on Ice, Heidi Langille works at Nvision, both are Royal Canadian Geographic Society Fellows.

Ode to Gerry Barber
Paul Weber is an engaging storyteller, singer and songwriter. He is a people’s poet of sorts, telling tales of past times, stories of the street, and community struggles. With one foot in the narrative folk tradition and another foot in the digital world, Paul frequently combines self-made videos into both his live and online performances, making for an engaging and sometimes educational show. Paul just released, “Ode to Gerry Barber”, a heartfelt collection of songs in a wide range of musical styles. In 2020 he was awarded a Bernard Grand Maître award for his musical contribution to Francophone culture.
